The flu took a toll on my attention and cognition, I can hardly function properly without looking like a tornado has struck me. “Fast forward me till I get better” – a line from the movie, Click. I can imitate Golem (evil dude) from Lord of the Rings, the servant of the Ring-guy who has a double personality (Golem and Smeagol) for working in a poor environment. See, that’s why they need unions… Well, either hoarse sound like nails on blackboard or muffled voice from my stuffed nose that makes me sound “gentle”, as Rachel put it. Whoever calls me have 50% chance of listening to my nice voice and vice versa.

Watched Phantom of the Opera at 8.30am this morning. I’m not nuts, just off the walls when I decided to add CCIV II to my over-crowded schedule in September. The course contents are based upon a theme of “Contemporary Music and Arts in China”, and today it so happens that we are talking about musicals. Yes, Phantom of the Opera is a musical - just because it’s a musical based on an opera theatre doesn’t make it opera. Anyway, it is one of my favorite piece of musical because of the songs, especially when Sarah Brightman sang it but then she’s old and cranky now so too bad.

UGC briefing session in LT-8 at 5.30pm this evening. What the hell is UGC? – University Grants Committee. A committee that is interlinked directly with the government but not part of the government org. is going to ask each department’s representative student to present what they have been doing for the past year and what they plan to do in future with current funds, rep students are also asked to express their cconcerns over UGC’s funding to their programme and questions regarding the budget. We may also suggest a review over the funding the department have: either increase or decrease, but mostly an increase; then with all these reports at hand the UGC will summarize and refine all said to the government so that we can tap into their money and increase our resources. That is what UGC does and the degree to which it affects students’ well-being and university life.

Did I mention Rach bought me a lava lamp?? That’s so 70’s but it’s kind of an interesting centerpiece in my room. I switch it on when I’m about to sleep and watch the wax inside bubble and bounce till I fall asleep. She saw it in Causeway Bay, bubbling, and thought it’s really mesmerizing so it’d help me sleep; it costed nothing to her because the store was closing and she bought it below market price – like wayyyyy below.

I need to buy me some musicals/ opera music and play it loud on telly at home, just to annoy neighbours who keep rapping in the middle of the night, and for my own amusement when I’m detrimentally ill and stuck at home.
