Skinny jeans…

October 10, 2007 · Comments Off

Among all those fashion trends, jeans always comes in but in different cutting or style – washed out, black, gray, vintage, torn, wide, boot-legged… The list goes on!! Not all trends are suitable for everyone, that including the skinny jeans.

I’ve asked more than twenty guys on what they think about girls wearing skinny jeans, add all of their comments together and here’s what I got:

“It’s really disturbing to see fat girls wearing skinny jeans or any see-through tights, god those fishnets are so NOT sexy. Skinny jeans don’t suit everyone and sometimes it just emphasizes how unfit Hong Kong girls are because they are TOO SKINNY. Another thing is that it can also emphasize girls with wide hips; normally, I don’t notice but then with those jeans it just stand out…”

So, I fished out my skinny jeans from closet and wore it today. Just to even out the skinny bit, I wore a long loose tee with heels and stepped out of the house. Then I went up to my friends and ask them, “Do I look that bad with skinny jeans?”

My friends are honest with me because I’m honest with them, especially with clothes. So far I haven’t received a bad comment. I proved the guys wrong that skinny jeans aren’t hideous, when worn properly and on a fit, not OTT malnutrious girl.

The thing is, skinny jeans shouldn’t be worn with ankle-high converse or regular trainners. Never ever pair them with too chunky wedges and or skin-tight tops. Reason: these kind of jeans are worn to elongate your legs, don’t make yourself look like some body-con, i.e. Victoria Beckham style. Don’t wear skinny jeans if you have to move around your internal organs and spend more than 20-minutes putting it on – it’s not worth it.

Normally, I don’t care what you wear. But these jeans have been in season for a year or so and surprisingly people fail to wear them properly. It pains my eyes to see them squeeze their body through these jeans. Ladies, do not torture yourself; and I don’t need to be tortured by your “keen” sense of fashion either. Not saying you shouldn’t follow your own style or majority of trends, just select those that suit and master the skill of wearing them un-obscenely. Thank you!!!
