I cannot conceive the thought that my mum is going to blackball another proposition to furbish my room – singularly my bookshelves and wardrobe. First of all, it was she who commended that I should have a new set of shelves and wardrobe, them being in different size, colour and order apparently; of course, I did my fair share of tried persuasion because I found the containers absolutely hideous and it uglifies my bedroom; with all the ugly shelves I have, it continuously fail to perform the function of keeping all my books, clothes, bags, accessories, files, binders, magazines and knick-knacks for art because one of my shelves is nearly in pieces and another just not spacious enough. Not the least to mention, a small portion of my window is obstructed by one of my disarrayed shelves. I go to the extent of using my brother’s shelves for what additional garments I wear during winter, however lacking proper and sturdy shelves for the rest of my books is a constant problem – I still have books stacked under and beside my bed. I trust no one can be comfortable in living at this hodgepodge room.

If you will not purchase a new wardrobe and shelves for me, I shall do it myself! I am capable of saving money for what I want, being stubborn and all….GRRRRR!!!!

What a splendid afternoon! I had lunch with Betty at Rice Paper (Vietnamese rest. in Festival Walk). We chatted on the prospects of my academic exchange to the U.S. during Year 2 of semester B, and upcoming student orientation speech on 24-08-07. Later on that day, we went to her office to word-process our scripts and organized some powerpoint slides for the presentation. The meeting ended with me being hired as her P.A. instantly, which meant the hours I spent with her today counted as “working hours” even though it was mostly of talking.

Work specifications as her P.A.:
- word-process documents
- review some confidential stuff, e.g. other student’s GPA, exam questions, evaluation forms, etc…
- plan and research
- translation: Chinese to English (summary)
- may need to work out of CityU’s office hours

I’ve also another job pending me at the Department of Economics and Finance as a student R.A. for Stephens. I can see that my upcoming academic year will be hectic and I shall lack social life. Not like I have much, anyway….

I sent my brother another homework: Read “A Vendetta” by Guy de Maupassant. Then write a 150-200 word summary of this 1,642 word short story. Very easy task, and filled with violence he likes. =)
